This is My dads Mustang. It is a 1965 Ford Mustang. It is not a GT. The Foglamps were added on as extra for better lighting at night. It also has the 289 V-8 High Performance engine on it. The original was a regular 289 V-8, but the block cracked while a new water pump was being installed onto it. Originaly it had a Caspian Blue paint, and it was the ORIGINAL factory paint from 1965, and then we lost another car so this car was quickly being fixed up for everyday use. Originally the car was a junkheap. It had no reverse, and it didn't even make it home all the way. Then the engine was getting fixed, the block cracked so we got a rebuilt 289 HP engine from Ford Directly. My dad redid the interior himself, he put in brand new carpeting, brand new seats, added in extra cushion for the seats too, he also forgot to tell the painter to paint the dash so he did that himself, he also created a two-tone effect in it by painting the door frame and the steering column black. The exhaust was modified with Glasspacks after the engine was installed. Also we put in a 3 row radiator for better cooling. Then shortly after that the car was repainted, we put a custom paint on it. It is currently a Kandy Blue, with a platinum Pearl underneath. Also at the same time we had Crager S/S rims installed on the car. All these modifications were made about 10 years ago. Then after my mom died, the car kinda just sat there for a bit, get a run once a month so the gas wouln't clog up. Then we found some car shows which brought "The Horse" back to life again. Originally we just washed it and waxed it and showed it off that way. The Engine compartment was FILTHY from the Everyday use of it. Then we finally started to dress up the car. Before it had a 1966 Mustang Grille and emblem on it but that was quickly changed out to the 65 Grille, emblem, bars and fog lamps. Then we added the chrome strip on the hood to complete the grille effect. Then we finally began work in the engine compartment. First we cleaned off all the oil and grease from the years off the intake manifold, rejetted the 4-barrel motorcraft Carburetor, we replaced the chrome valve covers and the air filter casing. We found a Mustang Emblem nut for the air cleaner top and installed that. Then we added in Tri-Y ceramic coated headers to it goving us a pretty good boost in horsepower. Before the headers when it had the ORIGINAL exhaust manifolds it was doing about 300 HP. But then trouble came. The heater core was leaking and when the car was turned off across the street, one of the clips for the starter broke off and shorted the starter and fried the cabeling when the positive feed on the starter touched the header pipe. When the horse was down for almost 3 weeks, more problems occured. When removing the heater casing, one of the clips that holds it up snapped off the 40 year old fiberglass case. When we got the new case and heater core, the new core was bad. The core was leaking! So we had to exchange it for a new one...success! Then we began work installing the new starter, the first starter we ordered which was designed for headers didn't quite fit right. So we returned that one and got a new one. The new one was a racing starter. The new starter was a high torque starter. The car purred better than it did before....We also put in chrome shock towers, and we also put in a chrome alternator, a chome pulley, and a shorty fan connector. Before the Fan would be literally right up to the radiator. We were extremely lucky the radiator did not get damaged from the fan on dips and the horse's fast running. The car never had any power steering or power brakes so it's a "bear and a half" trying to turn and stop the car. This car was involved in an accident almost 2 years ago (05), and through 2 body shops, one did a poor job on repairs, and the other repainted it and repaired the pieces the other body shop did not. Also it went to an engine shop durring its repairs, it was repainted with the Kandy Blue once again, and then we also added a "running horse" stripe which i had found on eBay for an 05 Mustang, the ca has finally returned after many complications, and mods are still on the way. Currently the Horse has around 320 HP.If you're interested in where to find parts for your mustang check out California Mustang, Larry's Thunderbird And Mustang or NPD. These great stores helped out majorly with parts for the horse.

Another Look at the Paint,Now its lighter shade of blue...look in Car Show pic on side, its darker and not just from lighting. When the light hits it, it becomes lighter...but as it goes through the night...the darker it becomes...its not just effect from the lighting, but thats how the pearl makes the paint change...
This is how the engine was looking at one point. This was after the valve covers were replaced, and before the shock towers and headers and starter problem, and before electric choke. Looks ok but still kinda ugly looking ain't it?
